Augment your chord vocabulary!!  Flat your 5th!!  This is no minor event – so I won’t keep you suspendedAdd a 9th, a 6th or a Major 7th to your treasury of chords.  Come to this Jan. 11th workshop so you won’t diminish your chances of improving your `ukulele skills!  This workshop introduces you to start understanding and playing the fancier sounding chords – all on four strings!  Review your chord structures for a 13th time!!  Hawaiian songs will be used as examples.

Intermediate Level 1 (Papa `Ekolu):  So you've been playing for a while now, but you really want to get into some contemporary Hawaiian sounds?  We'll learn new keys for old favorites, so that you get a broad range of chords to play for Aunty or Uncle's falsetto!  You should be familiar with more chords and at least simple double strum technique.  By the end of the workshop, you'll have learned even more chords and more strumming techniques and we'll start to get into some of the faster paced Hawaiian songs.  We'll cover some basic music theory, such as major scales and keys, as they relate to transposing and modulating.

Intermediate Level 2 (Papa `Eha):  This class if for the shaka guys and gals!  Any Eddy Kamaes or Aunty Genoas out there will enjoy learning four new songs a week.  This workshop extends Papa `Ekolu with new repertoires of music and stylings.  We'll get into more strumming techniques, some simple finger picking, and learning some chord/melody instrumental stylings.  Students are expected to be familiar with modulating to different keys as in the Papa `Ekolu.

Beginning `Ukulele Fingerpicking Level 1, Section 1:  Learn the basics of fingerstyle picking using standard TAB as applied to the `ukulele.  Music will consist of exercises and arrangements based on traditional Hawaiian melodies.  This workshop is suitable for those with no prior experience.  For those that can play the basic chords, this workshop introduces you to a fingerpicking style that can complement your strumming styles.
